This newsletter is a living encyclopedia of a collectively robust life lived by a group of friends formed in Austin, Texas, then scattered far and wide. So, what brought us to the realization that this newsletter is something that you, our beloved reader, simply CANNOT live without? Allow us to explain and introduce ourselves.
2011 was a big year for us. We'd just moved to Austin, Texas to matriculate into the University of Texas. Some of the contributors you'll find in these pages already knew each other well; others took their time meeting one another. We were all tied at one point or another by two things: a wonderful community of youth mentor volunteers that operated like a family, and a fake fraternity that ruthlessly asserted social dominance on the bevy of troglodytes that called themselves "panhelenic". Many of us have lived together, some of us have almost died together. Along the way we got an "education". Fast forward a few years, and we now have footholds from Brooklyn to Kanazawa, and everywhere in between, lending our talents to the fashion, petroleum, space, software, and educational industries, and making a living any way we can.
We'll be honest, we write this newsletter for us. It's a shameless celebration of and participation in our circle of friends we love so much. If you're reading this page, you're probably either an "editor", or you're down the hall from one harassing them about their article. If you're neither of those, then we hope you find something worth reading, and we hope you hit us up to hang out.
Welcome to Almost Friday, where it's always almost Friday somewhere, everywhere.
